Greeting Lesson 3


Conversation 1

hǎo
Woman : Hi!

nán hǎo
Man : Hello!

gōng zuò máng ma
Woman : Are you busy?

nán hěn máng ne
Man : (yes,) Very busy. And you?
.
tài máng .
Woman : I’m not very busy.


Conversation 2

wèi nín zǎo
David : Good morning!

lǎo shī hǎo
Mary : Hello, teacher.

lǎo shī men hǎo
Teacher : Hello!

wèi lǎo shī máng ma
David : Are you busy, teacher?
?
lǎo shī hěn máng , men ne ?
Teacher : Very busy. What about you?

wèi máng
David : I am not busy.

máng .
Mary : I am not busy too.

liú jīng , hǎo
Mary : Hello, LiuJing!

liú jīng hǎo
LiuJing : Hello!

ba ma shēn hǎo ma ?
Mary : How is your parent’s health?

liú jīng men dōu hěn hǎo xiè xie
LiuJing : They are fine.  Thank you!


Notes

  • “你呢?”, which means “What about you?”. It is a question asked in connection with the preceding topic. For example,”我很忙,你呢?”, it means “Are you busy?”.
